-Don’t blame them
-Believe them and don’t question their experience
-Do not defend the person who hurt them
-Don’t tell them they should have moved on by now
-Provide emotional support and comfort and make sure they have the resources to heal, and know that you care.
Curriculum is currently under development on how to support survivors to be scaled up in cities around the country, based on a successful pilot program which took place in the spring of 2017 in Washington, DC.
This curriculum fills a crucial gap in education around informing members of our communities with training on how to identify and support sexual violence and trafficking survivors, incorporating survivor input and scientific research.
